Ready to “empower all people to explore, connect, and grow”? That’s what we do at the Oakland Public Library, and we have a couple of rare open recruitments to help build our dynamic and diverse team. Our Librarian 1 positions include some in children and teen services!

Librarian 1, closes Monday September 30th

The City of Oakland is currently recruiting to fill several permanent part-time (PPT) and full-time (FT) Librarian I vacancies in the Oakland Public Library. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work with diverse populations in a multi-cultural setting; will have excellent problem-solving, multi-tasking and organizational skills; will provide excellent customer service and establish cooperative working relationships with staff, library patrons and the community.

Supervising Librarian, closes Friday September 27th

The City of Oakland is currently recruiting to fill one Supervising Librarian vacancy in the Oakland Public Library. The ideal candidate will:

  • inspire and motivate employees in a fun, creative, and committed team environment;
  • model outstanding achievement and leadership while improving operational capacity with flexible and effective solutions,
  • excellent customer service, and a holistic understanding of how to coordinate and implement equitable library services; and
  • possess a deep appreciation of the impact of policy and procedural decisions and will be skilled at balancing competing priorities to best achieve positive outcomes for the communities served by the Oakland Public Library.

The current Supervising Librarian vacancy is the Children’s Services Coordinator.
