BAYA Logo Contest Rules

Timeline
Designs accepted from May 21 (9AM) – August 31, 2024 (10AM).
Submitted designs will be showcased during the September 24, 2024 meeting.
Voting of BAYA membership from September 24 – October 31, 2024.
Winner revealed during the November 19, 2024 meeting.

What could I win?
First place winner will receive a $100 Amazon Gift Card and their logo used on the BAYA website, BAYA swag, and informational materials.
Second place will receive a $50 Amazon Gift Card.
Third place will receive a $25 Amazon Gift Card.

The person whose logo is chosen will be required to complete a Creative Works & Photo Release prior to receiving any associated prizes with the contest. Please see below for a copy of the Creative Works Release. All prizes associated with the contest will be mailed to the recipient.

So, what do you need to do?

Requirements to Enter a Design

• Create a new, colorful, logo for BAYA, in two types:
  • Two Types: Full Logo (Name & Motto) and Condensed Logo (Name Only)
  • Name: BAYA
  • Motto: Bay Area Young Adult Librarians
  • Full Logo will be used for print materials, website, swag, apparel, etc.
  • Condensed Logo will be used for social media profiles and print materials.
• Submitted the two logo types as either EPS or SVG file format
• Submit the CMYK colors for all colors used
• Submit the Hex Code colors for all colors used

Keep In Mind When Designing

• Logo design must be appealing at a small and large scale
• Logo must be suitable for website usage, social media, printing (flyers and business cards,) swag, and apparel, etc.
• Avoid gradients and halftones

You’re Encouraged To

• Submit up to 3 color palettes of the same logo, but you must include all color information for each palette and name each palette (i.e., CMYK and Hex Codes)
  • The color palette will help dictate other color choices on our website, swag, and print materials
• Check out the BAYA website and/or talk to a BAYA member about what BAYA means to them to help influence your design
• Review resources on how to create a logo

Who can submit a logo to the contest?

You must be a California Resident to enter. Prizes will not be mailed outside of California. Members of BAYA and their associated library young adults are highly encouraged to enter.

Who will get to pick the logo?

Only voting members of BAYA will be allowed to vote to choose the next BAYA logo.

Keep in mind when submitting to the contest through the Google Form

• You will be required to sign into Google when uploading files to this form. If you do not have a Google account or do not wish to sign in with your account, you will need to email your files to bayalibrarian@gmail.com.
  • Even if you need to email your logo files, you still need to complete the Google Form with your remaining information. The logo file fields are not required.
  • Remember to email all shape and color palettes
  • Remember to name each file with the logo type and color palette associated with it

Creative Works & Photo Release

PERMISSION TO REPRODUCE CREATIVE WORKS AND TO PHOTOGRAPH OR RECORD VIDEO AND/OR AUDIO

I [adult winner printed name here] am 18 years or older.

I [legal guardian printed name here] am the parent or legal guardian of [teen winner’s printed name here].

I give my permission for Bay Area Young Adult Librarians (BAYA) to reproduce creative works resulting from my (or my child’s) participation in the BAYA Logo Contest. I understand that the purpose is to promote the BAYA and its services/programs. I give my permission with the following understanding: No compensation of any kind will be paid to me (or my child) at this time or in the future for the use of my (or my child’s) creative works. Permission is not required to take part in BAYA programs or services.

I understand that BAYA may record via photo, video, and/or audio the events or activities in which I am (or my child is) participating. I give my permission for BAYA to use photographs, audio, and/or video of me (or my child) for the purpose of promoting BAYA and its services/programs. I give my permission with the following understanding: No compensation of any kind will be paid to me (or my child) at this time or in the future for the use of my (or my child’s) likeness or audio contributions. Permission is not required to take part in BAYA events, programs, or services.
