Air or Stomp Rocket

Description: Create air or stomp rockets.

Supplies:

• 10 Foot lengths of 1/2″ Plumbing PVC Pipe (1 each per stomp rocket)
• 1/2″ PVC Elbow (1 per stomp rocket)
• 1 Box Plastic Wrap
• 1 Handful Rubber Bands
• Duct Tape
• 2-Liter Soda Bottle (1-2 per rocket)
• Magazines
• Template for Rocket Fins
• 1-2 Roll Scotch or Like Tape

Equipment:

• Measuring Tape
• Hack Saw(s) – I borrowed most of these from staff members

Number of People: 5-25 (can increase class depending on how many rocket launchers you want to make)

Target Audience: All Teen (Don’t be fooled by the pictures, even older teens liked this)

Cost: $25-30 (Used magazines from the Library Friends donations)

Prep Time: Really the only prep time is shopping unless you don’t feel comfortable allowing your group to use the hack saws. Then you will need to spend about 1 hour cutting the PVC pipe.

This is a great resource from an extremely supportive science (now retired I think) teacher. He really will answer your questions.
