Since 2020, March has become BAYA’s annual hybrid meeting month where we dust off the practices of yore and have a Book Sale. We were excited to host eight in-person meeting attendees and ten virtual attendees.

You can check out the recording on our (unlisted) YouTube Channel, here.

March Meeting Recap

Program Spotlight

Programming highlights came from Richmond, Alameda County, San Jose Public, and Berkeley Public.

  • Richmond Public Library brought up how well engaged their Teen Focus Group was. Teens and Library Staff talked about space and services. Relayed how Richmond could probably use social media but more how parents use it to tell their teens about things, as opposed to reaching teens directly.
  • Alameda Public mentioned how the K-Pop Demon Hunter songs for Beat Saber on VR headsets has been very popular recently and recommends getting the song set if you can swing it.
  • San Jose Public Library relayed responses for their Youth Commission Survey and how teens are interested in learning more about internships and working in and learning about a desired field even before graduating from high school.
  • Berkeley Public was looking for ideas on putting on a Pride and food related program for June. Ideas such as redecorating basic cakes, cupcakes, and cookie decorating were floated.

There were no specific book recommendations during the Share-Out as the Professional Development topic this month was books and colelctions.
